Thank you! I will try this as an alternative to the calendar idea. I'm so grateful that I stumbled onto this site. It has been so helpful.
An alternative to a pocket calendar ( which will be difficult to find the right date span for and will likely cost lots of $$ ) is to create a laminated date/contact sheet.
I used to do this at a company I worked for:
Type up an Event list with dates & Contact info. Can be two sided or not with Events on one side, Contacts on the other.
Shrink it down to about 1/4 page size on a copy machine or your printer.
Run enough copies, then laminate and trim. (we use the big school laminator or Kinko's)
You now have a lasting 'card' that lists the info you want the parents to have.
Note: if your staff/volunteers wear lanyard badges, you can make it small enough to add a punch hole for attaching to their badge lanyard clip.
Can be used to create vol contact lists too. List all your top volunteers phone/cell/email, shrink and laminate. Give out to all your volunteers/teachers so they can keep in touch, especially during a big event with a lot of planning.
My Co-President and I are hoping to hand-out pocket calendars to every family at our "back-to-school" night in September. We will personalize every calendar with all PTO meeting nights, fundraising events as well as our contact information. We are just starting our term and we hope to come across as welcoming and organized. Our Problem? Finding pocket calendars that follow the year (i.e., they start in January and we need an August start date). If anyone knows where we might find what we're looking for, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. our post it here. We really like this idea and would hate to have to abandon it. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
