Hello! Yes I have placed something in the newspaper. Around here any school news, reunions, school events etc are free to advertise in the paper. Our little league baseball team held the regional and state tournament so I bought a business card ad in the program and received 2 calls. I have also placed announcements in the local church bulletins for community news. I'm lucky I'm a born and raised local so I still have alot of connections. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming
Do you have the budget to advertise in the local or major paper? Also does the school or school disrtict have a website that you can advertise on? I hate for you to have to do a mailing but I like that newspaper idea.
May the force be with you! (sorry the kids are watching Star Wars....again )
I guess I forgot to mention this school is for prek 3 thru 4th grade. The main event is the silent auction and fall harvest dinner. I have collected names and addresses for 500 former students dating back to 1970 to 2005. The ones still in jr high/high school/college are still involved. It's getting those that went to the school in 1970-1980 to get back involved is my promise. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.
I haven't heard of this for anyone but adults! My husband went K-12 with the same 8 people (he grew-up in the suburbs) and they get together every five years (which reminds me, our 20th  is coming!) and we have the best time! We don't even attend the big High School reunion anymore, just a big get together with the eight buddies and our families!
Maybe one way to get these kids interest is to ask if they remember different events or take a page in the high school paper with elementry pictures (mom's okays of course) and ask if they remember. ALso it's always a trick to plan a reunion at a place people will enjoy, ours have been planed at the local golf/country club. Many of our classmates golf and there are many of us that play BUNKO. Amusement parks often offer group rates, worth looking into. Don't forget Homecoming!!!
Good luck with this!
How many elementary schools have an alumni committe? IF you have one, how do you go about getting your former students involved. Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
I have planned 4 high school reunions but am finding it difficult to get people involved in a school where they might have only gone for 5-6 years. Thanks
