These were attached to helium balloons and we got the roster of students from the teachers-
one for a boy, one for a girl
DEREKS FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN
Look Mommy and Daddy! Look at me!
I’m a big boy now ready to fly… can you see!
I’m learning to count and say my ABC’s…
Look Mommy and Daddy, aren’t you proud of me!
But hold on tight to the string, ‘cause you know
Although I’m growing I still need you, you know
To hear about my day, and cuddle next to me
As I tell you my tales of Kindergarten, you see.
I’m making new friends and learning each day
And with each step, I’m up, up and away!
But never too far for you to hold onto me
Because I love you Mommy and Daddy…won’t you fly with me?

We're doing ours at 9 am for the am Kindergarten parents, so it's after their kids go to class. Then again at 12:45 for the pm Kindergarten parents when their darlings go to class. This won't interfere with breakfast or lunch at school at all since it's just for the parents (& younger siblings).
I am curious to know how this can be done without interfering with your school's lunch/breakfast program? Do you just wait until serving is over? I'd like to offer our parents something. I doubt we will have many parents at our school as the kids are getting bigger but I definately do not want to discourage parents from eating breakfast/lunch with their kids because we have mostly free/reduced families and our lunch program depends on the amount of meals that are distributed.
We're doing this for the first time this year as well. We are inviting the Kindergarten parents as well as the pre-K parents (we have a preschool program at our school 3-4 y/o). We also have a special ed. Kindergarten that will have their parents invited. We're calling ours "Big Step" Breakfast. I think for the afternoon parents we'll just have fruit, water, cookies, etc. instead of the "breakfast" stuff as in the morning. I'm so excited to have this. How have others decorated for this? We're going to be in an empty classroom, so we'll have plenty of room. I know I need tissue for centerpieces as well as Hershey's Hugs & Kisses....I'd like to hear what other fun stuff y'all do! I'm also thinking of doing it with the school colors.
