Oh, I can commment on this one! I, for one, think it is nice to recognize parents whose youngest child is graduating from the school. Our school goes K3-8 and we have some families who have been at the school for SEVENTEEN years. We did put something in our weekly school newletter thanking them and then next week at our last assembly we will give each family a small token rememanbrance for their years at the school.
Now I am a tiny bit nervous of leaving some people out--people who have an 8th grader graduating but are taking out a 5th grader or something like that. we'll see...

because they move away, or their last child is leaving the school, does anyone do anything for them in your school by way of saying 'thanks', if they have done much over the years to contribute to various things? Maybe they've never been on the PTO board or been in charge of major committees, but they have, year after year, faithfully done some service or other? Or is it deemed too risky because someone might get overlooked and be hurt? I'm interested in what other schools do; our school does nothing.
