We'll be doing this next year for the first time with ideas that I received from here. Thanks everyone! I gave the Principal and Pres. the info. and since I was voted VP I will be attending a meeting in June to see what we want to put in it. I'll keep you informed.
We bought pocket folders on sale in August for less than 10 cents apiece. We put in a welcome letter, our pledge brochure (tri-fold on glossy paper), escrip application, ink cartridge recycling info, school district volunteer application, etc. We put a sticker on the front of each folder that said Important Information for 2004 - 2005. Families really liked the idea that all the stuff was in one folder and it didn't cost us much money. We sent them home the first week of school.
I will email you privately with samples of our welcome letter, etc. if you want -
Do any of you provide some sort of "Welcome" bag/folder with information for the new families that start attending your school during the school year? I want to do something like this, but want to see/hear what others do.
I just secured a MAJOR home builder to sponsor our school calendar magnets for next year! Whew-who. I'm ordering enough for our student body (these will go home in their August packets that have classroom assignments, etc.) as well as faculty and for any new families that start going to our school throughout the school year.
I appreciate any ideas or samples of what you do to welcome new families throughout the school year.
Thanks,
Holly
