Hi ProudPrattParent! What is your Surprise Friday?? We have Pride Day on every other Friday where everyone meets in the gym and they sing and learn a new lifeskill and the PTO pops popcorn for all the kids. Is it something like that?? Thanks Jen
Our field day is one of the highlights of the year from students and parents! K-3 have it in the morning, 4-6 in the afternoon. We have an obstical course through our playground equipment, basketball toss, parachute games, golf, soccer go around cones thing, ring toss, potato sack race and more that I can't remember right now. We have not had a problem getting volunteers for this. It is held a week before school gets out. We have a check list of events so the kids mark off what they have done. They can do things more than once. Our parent group has alway done a Friday Surprise each month and we have our Friday Surprise on Field Day in June and students pay 25 cents for their surprise. We have always served snow cones on field day. The kids love it.
Good Luck!
Our Field Day is held during school hours. Grades 3-5 have it in the morning and the 5th grade helps with the K-2 activites in the afternoon. We don't have food but give away popsicles to each child at the end. They usually have around 12 activites that include tug of war, relay races, sidewalk art, water balloon toss and so on. This is a school sponsered event but the PTO provides the treats. In all honesty, in four years, I have only seen 2 parents beside me at these events and one of them worked for the school.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
