One of the schools (a 5th/6th grade school) tried that this year. THey sent a poll out surveying parents with an OVERWHELMING amount thinking it was a great idea....the problem was when it came down to parents forking over the 50.00 they didn't follow through. With a school of over 1000 kids, with 80% saying they'd support the idea........only 10 families actually sent in money.

Tim - can we do that? Something as simple as "Does your group promote family events as fundraisers?"

I would take a poll and see what the feedback says. That would be one way of "feeling out" what people think.

I recently put a similar question in the Fundraiser section. You might want to check it out.

I am a PTO member at a private school. We should be called the fundraising committee because this is all we do. We are toying around with the idea to ask for a 50.00 dollar donation to PTO instead of fundraising. This way we would not have half the non participation, grief and groan we are now getting. "One more fundraiserrrr." is the phrase of the day. It also seems to be the same people pulling all the weight. It is almost a part time job organizing etc. Any school doing this? We have other large fundraising functions (golf dinner auction, Octoberfest) not sponsored by PTO that people just dont want to deal with because of all the other fundraising going on. Any input would help. It is a private religous school with about 600 students. We havent worked out the kinks but writing a check and not dealing with all the negative parents sounds great!!! Any ideas would help.
