A letter goes home with the students th third day of school. Interested parents are requested to fill out the form and send it back in, where the teacher then selects her choices. Some teachers do not have a preferred choice, so then those names go into a hat for selection. (sometimes we actually have to beg a parent to be involved)
Our class parents have to meet several requirements:
Be willing to recieve early morning phone calls (5:00 AM sometimes) during school closings
Be willing to make phone calls for school closing notification (a courtesy we provide our parents if wanted)
They must attend at least 3 PTO meetings (so they may stay informed, as well as reading our newsletter)
Be willing to act as chaperones for class trips
Be available to make phone calls in case there is an early closing of school in case of inclement weather (have ot had this in 3 years)
Hope this helps...
