My first question is did you experience any of this personally, as in have you attended any meetings or tried to get involved with this organization? Have you personally spoken to the principal and the AP? Or are you solely working off of heresay?
I say this only because there is nothing better then first hand knowledge of a situation. I have learned that many people have agendas or axes to grind and say all kinds of things that in the end you may come to find out are not neccesarily true.
If you have personally experienced it and you first hand believe it is 100 % true then you and the other concerned parents and teachers alike should be going to see your superintendent and even your Board of Ed.
Also do you have a copy of their bylaws? If not can you get one? I am curious as to what they did to the bylaws to protect themselves.
Under the assumption that this is all true and if the Super and the BOE fail you then I can only see 2 other choices...Seeing if the super will allow you to form an alternet parent/Teacher group (as some schools have done) or banding together to boycott the current group and not supporting any fundraisers or events that they hold.
If this board is only 4 people and the support of the principal and all the other parents and teachers are against them then a boycott could make them fall hard & fast.
Again though before you do anything make sure all that is said of this group and the pricipal is really true. I have heard horror stories about teachers from people that terrified me when my children got them and what I found out first hand could not have been further from the truth. The reality was they were awesome teachers and my kids loved them.
We are a school of approximately 600 students. We have had a terrible experience with PTO not letting anyone be part of the organization. They have created their own positions, and parents and teachers are furious over all that takes place. They have set their own by-laws to benefit themselves. Many parents and teachers have gone to the AP and asked to help them join PTO. The AP is new. She has only been at the school for a few months. When she arrived she received many compliants about PTO. PTO board consist of 4 parents. When teachers or other parents try to join they make their lives miserable. This has been addressed with the Principal. The rumor is that the male principal and the married parent h are to friendly and have been for a long time. This means that this member has all the say. She has destroyed the school and many kids have been pulled out, because of this. She personally told someone that anything she wants she can get. All she has to do is talk to the principal. I am really concern for the sake of the students that even our new AP will leave due to this. Our old AP left for this same reason. This school is going to hell and no one is stopping it. How long can she be a member and can she create other positions on the board for the purpose of just destroying lives? The rumor around the school is that she is going to do this. It is a pity the Principal is in on this also. How do we get her off the board without the support to the principal?
