We celebrate Dr. Seuss week. You can probably get alot of information from readacrossamerica.org and seusville.com (I may be off on that one, but you can do a search on it)
We have an assembly where the Cat in the Hat reads a book (the librarian dawned in the outfit) and last year some of the teachers acted out the book. It was sooo funny. We also have a door decorating contest and guest readers. The kids have Green eggs and ham for lunch and birthday cake in honor of Dr. Seuss. There is a book he read for older people in his famous Dr. Seuss style about growing old and waiting around at the Dr.'s office. I asked our principal to read that at the PTO meeting one year. It is a must read and I can NEVER think of the name of it.
One year I read to all 22 classes in one day, plus I read to the 3 pre-k classes. It took me a week to stop talking in rhyme.
Every year we celebrate Dr. Suess's B-day by having several guest readers come in. We have everyone from our state representative to the local weather guy! We also invited our high school atheletes. (They wear their uniforms) We give them a Suess hat as a gift (Oriental Trading)
Our kids love it!
Can anyone suggest a way to hosted a Dr Seuss school event. We are looking to do an event about READING and - Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2 and that would be a great time.
