Workshops at PTO Meetings??

There are alot of topics you could have for workshops. Parental involvement is always my favorite. There is also character issues such as bullying. I think that issue could be addressed more by just about everyone and something as simple as hygiene could also be addressed.

As far as the time is concerned; what time are your meetings generally held? Are there good turns out then? Why are why not? Would the people interested in these workshops be working parents or stay at home parents? It depends on your own situation.

Our PTO meetings are primarily Board meetings. We never really did workshops, but at times we would embed a section on:

* How business is conducted in the PTO/forms/cash handling

* Parliamentary Procedure

* Volunteer issues (confidentiality, role, responsibility)

But these were just 10-15 minute sessions embedded in the meeting. Probably not the same thing you are considering.

We are thinking about adding workshops to our PTO meetings. Does anyone already do this? How does it work meeting first or wrokshop first? What kind of things do you do workshops on?? Any ideas would be welcome!!! Please help!
