I prefer holding our Take Dad to School (which is also our Donuts with Dad) during a school day. But there are a few reasons why Saturday would not be good that weren't touched on.
For our family and every family in our church, not only do we run to school and work all week but Sundays are an early day as well because of church. Saturday morning is the only time where we can catch an extra hour of sleep or just take it a bit slower. I've talked to many parents in our church regarding this (recent Breakfast with Santa planning) and it's a unanimous consent.
None of us want to give up our Saturday mornings for yet another event.
I have not held one on a Saturday, and wouldn't do so unless it was logistically impossible to hold on a school day morning. Here's why.....My 2 cents....
It is the only school event that a working parent can attend without having to take off from work.
Our working parents just rave about the breakfasts as they feel like it is the first time someone thought about them and did something they could do with their child on a school day that did not exclude them. We get a 99.9%
turnout.
It enables the principal and teachers to come in a get a bite and chat with the kids & parents. If we held it on a Saturday the principal would still show, but none of the teachers would.
Lastly, you would get less turnout because people always have things to do on Saturday. Everyone's children are going to school on a weekday unless they are sick.
Plus the children are just so excited about having the parent with them for breakfast before the start of their school day. In a way it sets them up for a great day.
But if there is a logistical reason that you can't hold it on a school day then hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
