Hi Debra,
we did a sock hop several years ago and had a BLAST!
We were able to obtain cash donations from real estate agents to purchase family zoo passes and musuem pasees (total bill $200) and a few donated items from our moms in the direct sales busniess (Pamper Chef put together a pizza meal with a new stone etc; Discovery Toys put together a great package; Party-Lite Candles; Avon; you get the picture...).
We kept it simple and the kids had a great time! Even the DJ donated his time in exchange for advertising! NO PROBLEM there!
....easy sadle shoes.... purchase white "fake Keds" (I find them at craft stores or WalMArt for like $5) and purchase black craft paint (wearable art kind). Use the black paint to paint the middle seam on your teenies to look like saddle shoes! Way more comfortable and cute!
I'd have a Best Dressed Socks contest... or something fun. Have door prizes. Popcorn. Music. Perhaps even an area where one could walk with their socks on and have different materials under their feet, like bubble wrap popping... maybe rent one of those bouncy moon walk things.
perhaps a cake auction -
Check out the post for silent auction donations if you are seeking corporate donations. We have best luck with parents and local businesses.
I need help in finding information on possible corporate donations for our silent auction. We want to go a little bigger this year and I need some help with ideas on where to look. I've heard the Estee Lauder does it and Little Tykes? Does anyone know anything about it? Where to look? I need all the help that I can get.
Any creative ideas for an elementary school sock hop?
