I love the name Grand Parent/Friends Day. We've always called Grandparents day. I think I'll mention that to the Committee Chair...Hope it's okay with you!

I'm recovering from Grandparents Day, which was held today. It is a HUGE event and a HUGE production (I wasn't in charge, thank heavens) but it went off as well as an event of this size can. We have 370 students (k3-8) and every child had at least one grandparent/friend there and most had two. We lined up a shuttle bus as our parking filled up fast. We had 5 people out all over the school parking lots directing traffic (I was passing out flyers in the rain this morning directing grandparents to our shuttle). So that moved very smoothly. We all attended chapel; then had classroom visitations, snacks in the cafeteria, the book fair in the gymnasium and a professional photographer (who gave the school a cut). It was a little crowded at times but I think a good time was had. Since school was only a half day today, we were all gone by 11 so the children could go out to eat with their grandparents...It's a great event--I highly recommend it.

This year our Lunch with Grandparents have been divided up in two weeks with only a couple of classes per day having grandparents.

Hey, our Book Fair starts tomorrow, I hadn't thought of that! Plus, Fall into Reading is next week, then it's a two week fall break. I think those grandparents need some books to read to those grandkids. ;)

We too have just this year scheduled our Grandparents Week the same week as our book fair. We greeted each Grandparent at the door to sign them in and give them a visitors sticker, each recieved a flower, poem, and was invited after asking the childs teacher after they ate lunch with their grandchild to come back and have a free picture taken of them as a keepsake. This was a HUGE hit. We have about 521 kids and had over 380 Grandparents show up! :D
