Teacher and Staff Birthdays

wow, that sounds nice!

we didn't do anything really elaborate at all, I borrowed the idea from this board I think actually. I bought a bunch of the mini highlighters at walmart on clearance (I want to say it was a 6 pack for 35 cents) and then made birthday cards for the staff, stuck the hightlighter in and wrote, "hope your birthday is the 'highlight' of the month" and taped the highlighter to the inside of the card. The staff seemed to enjoy that. And we would also bring in birthday cakes on the first thursday of the month for "staff birthdays". maggie

Just wantedd to share something that we do for our teachers and staff. At the beginning of the year, we get a list of their birthdays, we have 45 teachers and staff members. We then asked each one of them what their favorite flower was
(we didn't tell them why we were asking. On the day of their birthday, we hung a big decorated sign on their door and gave them a small box of chocolates and a dozen of their favorite flowers. We had also asked them what their second favorite was in case we had some that we could't get at the florist. The birthday card was signed by the PTO officers. We bought cards at the beginning of the school year an had a little signing party to get them done ahead of time. We also bought the chocolates ahead of time in bulk so we got a discount at one of the local stores. The florist also gave us a huge discount because the PTO now buys all of our flowers there for the school year. For instance, a dozen roses was $6.50. For anyone who had a birthday on a weekend or on a vacation we gave them everything the Friday before. For anyone who had a summer birthday, we gave them the stuff during the last week of school. SOOOO many teachers and staff were overwhelmed!!! They could not believe that we had gone to all of that trouble (and actually, it's pretty easy). Some even cried. The other neat thing about the signs were that the students knew the teacher's birthday was that day, so they also wished them a Happy Birthday! We paid for this by doing a 50/50 raffle at the first family event in September. Hope this helps anyone who is looking to do something different for your staff. If anyone has anything else different, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!!
