Hi! You can get great info here for family nights for a movie night, a game night, and a craft night. Look here...

they will send you the info package free of charge.
Another thing...not really a family night...We do a variety show (grades 1-3) and it is so much fun and everyone loves it. We get about half of the school who participates. They can perform alone or with a group. They get about 1 minute each (otherwise the show is way too long when you have 75 acts)They sing, dance, tell jokes, do magic, karate, play instruments, you name it. We do a couple of days of rehersal and then on Friday during the day they perform the show for the school assembly so all the kids can see it and then they have the real performance at night. So many people come it is standing room only. The best part is it costs you nothing to do one. We do not charge admission to get in, but we do put a donation box by the door and we get in the $300 range in donations.
Another idea is a family dance. My kids nursery school always has one every year and people whose kids are gone from there still buy tickets to go.
They charge a small fee (like $2 a person) just to cover the cost of the DJ. And they provide refreshments.
Now, on to the middle school...I don't believe that "Moms in school is not cool". Volunteerism typically drops off at this point because now that the kids are older, stay at home moms go back to work.
