An idea that we have for our school, not only will it help with parent involvement but also community involvement.
We have a CTEC lab, (Community Technology Education Center).
This was put together with some cash (tables and chairs), the rest was put together with extra computer from the building. The CTEC lab also serves as a tech room.
I have been charged with the donated computer program. Sometimes I acquire or someone else acquires them. I am the resident tech. This year is my first year getting this together.
I have managed to get 25 computers working, and have about 30 to go. We have a Technology coordinator (computer teacher), but he is not a tech. I also support the teachers when they crash or need parts.
I have also managed to secure a license for windows 98 and 2000, from microsoft for the program. Most computers donated are older (win 95/98).
This program is very good and works.
We will also be holding classes in the CTEC lab for GED, Computer classes, and I plan on teaching tech to a few students, so they can help me with minor computer issues, and set up the old computers.
If you would like to learn more about what I am doing, I plan on posting on my web site when I have this section done. I will post the address when completed.
