Our school district recently put a levy on the ballot and it failed. So they are now reorganizing our schools: Closing 2 schools, make our school Pre-K -3, another will be 4-5, another 6th, then onto Jr High and High school. They are changing all of our school names and merging our PTO's. They want 1 central PTO. I feel like they are taking some of the "involvement and participation" from us parents. I am currently the Fundraiser co-chair and have helped raise over $25,000 for our school this year. My concerns are that they will alternate meetings between our school and the 4-5 school. We will have 1 bank account but still do our own fundraising. The funds will be there for both schools to use as needed. I am not trying to be bull headed about all of this, but I and some others feel like they are trying to take something we have dedicate many hours to away from us. Please don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to working with all other parents with kids grades Pre-K-3 which will be housed in our school. I am not meaning our current PTO staying in charge.I would just like each seperate "new" school to have it's own PTO. And I understand that parents with kids in more than 1 school this may be an advantage, I will have kids in 3 diffrent schools, and am willing to help in all 3 PTO's. If your schools have done anything like this please let me know how it is working and the pros and cons. Also can they take a PTO out of our school and make us all into 1 central PTO?
