Okay - that was definately a different look on it! I'm glad I asked because you all seem to have experienced it - several times over. We definately will have to have auditions. Did you all have response from the community at all or was it purely school kids performing? What about teachers, cafeteria workers, PTO BOARD MEMBERS?!!
I have to agree with our talented venzmama - lip sync is boring. We have a talent show every year, and lip syncing is not ususally allowed, but somehow a few slip in - so what you have (mostly) is a bunch of pre-pubescent girls dressing like Britney Spears, and lip syncing ooopss I did it again. Sorry - not entertaining to me. There are always opportunities for kids to make something up, like a skit, or lots of girsl that take dance lessons, music lessons, can sing, tell jokes, etc. definitely leave the lip syncing out. But, that's just my opinion. Good Luck!
A show with all lip sync would get boring after the first few. What if you had mainly "talent" with only a few lip syncs included or none at all. We have a small school and yet had enough talent for an hour long show. Have a list of all the acts, maybe even have a tryout if you are limited to time constraints as you will need to keep the program short. Mix the acts so it's not songs back to back and make sure the best act is the last one or things will go downhill from the beginning.
I'm glad my song was a hit! No, I'm not a music teacher, just someone who likes to rhyme and make up poems.
We are having our very first variety show and I couldn't figure out what the officers were going to do - wait until I run this one by them!!!! Way to go!
Now - for those of you experienced with this show - any suggestions?! One of our teacher's said we should put on a "puttin on the hits" type program where they can lip sync and some say it should be a pure talent show. I have until a few more weeks before I start advertising so input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
Okay, I guess I can show my face again! I thought I was going to have to plead ignorance, or say I wrote it way too early before any caffiene intake or something. I'm glad some people appreciate my creative genius! Must be from learning how to read with Dr Seuss!
