I found a website where you can print out your own child id kits for free. WWW.LCRCFoundation.org
It has fingerprinting, current child info, identifiable marks, and safety tips. We printed these out and handed them out with one of our fundraisers so the parents can keep it at their homes and don't have to worry about releasing their child's info to whomever unless the emergency comes about.
Thanks for the info. We received the information about Kidz-IDZ from PTO Today. Has anyone called them from the flyer? I talked to the company and assumed that since PTO Today sent out the information its fine, but now that she is questioning whether it is a legitimate company I would like to know if anyone had any experience working with them yet. We've already sent out the information to each student, and nobody is obligied to participate but I'm just curious what others may have experienced.
We used Identi-Kids one year and didn't have a problem. This was a concern. But the rep assured us it was perfectly safe. Maybe a rep could come and talk to your school or at least issue a special statement to make kids feel better.
The next year we purchased the technology to do it ourselves. Not only do we do ID cards where the info stays inside. The staff and volunteer badges are made with it. To help with the cost we use it at events and have sports badges, "drivers liscenses", best friend cards and more. We also used it a breakfast with Santa last year.
Has anyone taken advantage of the free Student ID program offered by the Kidz-IDZ company. We just sent out the information to our families and I had one mother call me upset that the PTO was sponsoring something like this. She didn't like the idea of filling out information about her child and sending it out to have the card made. Has anyone else done this and had problems/concerns from families?
Thanks, I'm at a loss as to how to respond to this mother. I've contacted our local sheriff dept., I've called the company and asked them to call me, I've checked the website and I e-mailed the BBB of NJ to try to get any more information. But if anyone has had an experience with them and could let me know I would really appreciate it.
