Every school my kids have attended have made RR Week a participation thing. Monday is crazy hat day, Tuesday is wear a red shirt day, Wednesday if backwards day (wear your shirt backwards) Thursday is clash day (or you could call it 70's day if you look at some of the clothes I wore back then!) and Friday is school spirit day - wear your school shirt and/or colors and show your spirit. Mix and match on those themes or create new ones. It seems it's always been more about the spirit of it rather than getting something out of it.
And if you can't afford pencils that say red ribbon week - how about just pencils with a little red ribbon tied around them? A little more labor intensive - but adds the personal touch, right?
Does your school celebrate Red Ribbon Week? If so when will you be celebrating it this year?
It is a PTO sponsored event at our school and this yr I am co-chairing. There seems to be a discrepancy as to which week is RRweek. Some info on the web says the week Oct 15th and I have received catalogs say the week of Oct 18th.
We have over 750 students and a buget of $250, with this budget we cannot even buy each child a Red Ribbon pencil. We will be tieing ribbons around trees and making posters. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
