I don't know if this is just for the state of Massachusetts or for some other states - but it could be coming your way, too!
There's a new fire regulation permitting only the use of flame retardant materials and forbidding the use of combustible materials (paper, posters, laminated materials, etc.) on the walls of our school hallways, stairwells, lobbies, gym and existing hall bulletin boards. These combustible materials may be used only if encased in glass or in a display case. Our sprinkler system makes it possible for the teachers to decorate and display students' work in their classrooms. The cafeteria and main office also fall within this guideline.
Looks like our PTO will be funding enclosed glass cases!
If your town is building new schools/renovating, you may want to see if this will impact your area before money is invested in a lot of regular bulletin boards (as we've done!!!)
