I should have just had faith. I should have just relaxed and watched how things turned out.
We (okay, pretty much I) organized a "Welcome to 6th grade" picnic for students and families. We have about 150 6th grade families in our school. Probably about 15 came. But then there were about 15 kids without their families. And then, probably 20 teachers/administrators showed up. And it was a diverse crowd. I'm always so concerned when the Hispanic families don't come to our events....but there some of them were!
We had about 100 people and I think it was a success. Even better was that about 4 different soccer teams had practice on the field that we were using part of. So even if they didn't come to the picnic (even if they weren't 6th graders)...you know they were all wondering what was going on and could they play in the moonwalk!
We're meeting in the next 2 weeks and our next big thing will be a financial planning speaker for college once I get that information from PTO Today.
