Last year we started a program that became hugely successful. We were given a large metal mailbox sort of shelf unit, ie. several letter sized slots. It worked perfect for our program. We gave each teacher a slot and labeled it with their name.
We then created a form called the Teacher/Staff Work Order. The form allows the teachers to give "jobs" to our volunteers to complete. Everything from copying to die cuts to correcting papers. They then place their materials and work order form in their slot.
Parents come to our Parent Room and check the slot of not only their child's teacher but of anyones they have the time to help. Sometimes the jobs are as simple as laminating some artwork but other times they can be creating posters or bulletin board.
The teachers loved it and it really got even more parents to volunteer their time. It helped more people visit our Parent Volunteer Room and definitely made more time for the teachers to teach.
If you would like to see the form to help explain the program a little better just click here:

I also have a memo that went out to the teachers along with the forms to help explain the program if you want to see that - just let me know.
