Per our By-laws, if you are a parent, guardian, or school staff/teacher you are a member of our PTO, after that it's a matter of asking names and numbers so we can contact then when and if needed.
We send home our first newsletter the second week of school (which is coming FAST!!). That's it. It would be nice to have something to give parents so they knew what we did or what we are to the school.....
Our organization sends home everything the first week of school with the student's in a pto welcome back packet. The only thing is that the board member that took care of memberships does not have the enrollment forms for new members. I was wondering if someone might have a great layout that they would be willing to share with me so that I can get a good idea of what I am needing.
We haven't started school yet here in NH but when our school does start, we send out Parent Survery home (on the first day of school) asking for help with activities and room parents ect....Before school starts we mail a newletter with a Welcome Back note ... up coming events with the first couple days of school and we purchased a school canlendar magnet. An invation to our Boo-Hoo Breakfast is also mailed home at this time as well.
We don't have membership sign up we have an open door policy anyone with an interest in our mission and goal of our Parents' Group is well come to attend.
Our Open House isn't until Oct. and by that time parents have a schedule going and fitting in school things seems to get put to the bottom of the list that's why we try to get out as much information as soon as possiable.
When I was prez I had membership sign ups during Open House, this really cut back on time for our first meeting. I made a meeting schedule and put other info with our school folders which contains emergency cards, pick up lists, etc. this way a parent will have to look at it to see if they think it is important or not.
I think it would be best to make a packet and send it home asap. It's the 2nd day of school I'm already sick of signing papers, I like to get everything done and over with (patience is not my thing). I haven't got any PTO info and I a little anxious because I still want to be involved as much as I can. I've noticed that parent interest declines with time in such matters so get them while they are psyched about starting back.
Hi Guys.... Our Pta (Parents Group) usually sends home a brochure the 1st week then membership info. the next week. I am never sure if all the parents get the idea!! A friend says her school has everything in a PTO folder at back to school night for the parents. I like this idea but wonder if parents will just throw the whole folder away?? I would love to make a PTA packet and send it all at once... What do you send home to get parents signed up/involved & when!! THANKS!!
