The last two years we made up a calendar for each person with all events for the year listed in the calendar. We also passed out a PSO packet which included information about the PSO, "why you should be involved" section. We then listed every volunteer opportunity, in detail (explained what was expected, how much time is involved, lists chairperson or whether we were in need of a chairperson along with # of volunteers). The last page was a volunteer sheet which had to be signed by every parent (so that we know they read the packet) whether you wanted to volunteer or not. They checked all areas of interest so that we could contact them. Since taking over the PSO, this has worked rather well and have seen a lot of new faces.
How about volunteer ideas, maybe an article on how important family involvment is.
Do you have a brochure of any type for you parent group. If not you may want to put in a mission statement of some type or describe how your parent group works.
You could also add a "Welcome Back" poem.
For new families to the area you could put some info in about your community.
We are putting together a folder for our members and so far we have our calendar, magnet and yearbook order form. . Any suggestions on what other info we could include in the folder?
