We are a new K-5th school and this was our 2nd spring carnival. Since it wasn't a big fundraiser for PTO since we had done so well with other fundraiser's we decided to try and inspire the teachers to get involved, and less for us to worry about, by letting them know if 2 paired up and created a booth and ran the booth the night of the carnival all the profit would go back to them to use in the classroom! They loved this idea and went all out with the competition! PTO was able to make money off of 5 booths we created and the food that was sold. We all had a blast!
We just make calls or go into to a business and ask. Bigger business like a letter written between 30-45 days before the event. One of our local grocery stores always gives us a ham. We do a prize/cake walk. As for the supper we have, the food is ordered throught the same company the school uses.
Since there is only an average of 2 people covering a four county area, I am hoping that next year we do the same thing as the school across town. There each room is assigned a theme.(bath and body, fishing, holiday). These items are made into baskets and auctioned off. The room that brings in the most money gets a pizza party. Last year some of the staff donated baskets for the walk, tickets for a $5.00 walk was sold and one basket made around $75.00. I think we could do better with the walk instead of an auction.
I AM NEW AT THIS AND WAS ASKED TO TAKE OVER CHAIRPERSON FOR OUR FALL FESTIVAL I AM A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT THIS AND I WOULD LIKE SOME HELP OR IDEAS ON HOW TO DO THIS. OUR SCHOOL HAS HAD THIS FOR 7 YEARS NOW, BUT WE ARE STARTING FROM SCRATCH FOR THE 8TH YEAR. HOW DO YOU GET VENDORS, DONATIONS FOR FOOD OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT OR ANY FRESH IDEAS
