We tried one and no success; the school wants to run it; but staff doesn't seem to have the time so who looses the parents/kids. It's a great way to stay in contact with parents with email; lots of parents use it everyday. Schools sometimes don't get notices out on time; regardless if you do the copying yourself and leave it ready for distribution. Great idea I hope it works for you.
We do not have a message board, but we do use Yahoo E-Groups. It is a great way to reach everyone! We also post on our school's website and in their weekly bulletin.
I was thinking a message board for our school's PTO might be a way to improve communication and therefore increase involvement.
I do recognize that with message boards, there is free speech. While I would definitely want to encourage a healthy exchange of ideas and information, I would not want the board to become a place for airing dirty laundry.
Is anyone using a private message board for their PTO? Any thoughts or experiences to share?
