The teachers here provide the gifts for those that volunteer in their classrooms. Some opting for just a certificate that they have made. This year the school did a little extra and had doughnuts and drinks for all of the volunteers no matter what area. Didn't go exactly as planned, but it was something. The PTO will still do a small something for those that helped us.
I think I would have to inform them that if they want something for the ones that had worked in their classrooms then they will have to provide it not the PTO. If they state that the PTO has always done it, then let them know that you were unaware of it. That you are a different PTO and as such this would have had to have been voted on by the new board or all of the members.
They could have the students make something. It doesn't have to be something bought just something that shows they are appreciated.
I guess this might be a little of a vent, but I just found out 3 days befor the v appreciation lunch that the PTO is in charge of the gifts. To me this make no sense.Their is a small group like in many schools that do everything.
We have to get gifts for the parents who volunteer in the classrooms and most have never helped at a PTO event.
This being my first year i was not told that i had to get gifts,i was looking forward to just being appreciated and know i have to pull together some kind of gift. The teachers and princepal should be on top of this not me or a volunteer.Does anyone have any idea what i should do in such a short time?
Thank you
