I bet you could get an American Express Financial Advisor to put on one of our College Funding Nights (www.schoolfamilynights.com
) in a short amount of time. The materials and the presentation are already ready. You can cal into our office (800-644-3561 x 208), if you want to try and rush things.
Sometimes those meetings you put plan yourself are the best! How about conducting a "getting to know you better" activity as a team-building/ interesting replacement for a guest speaker. Depending on the size of your group, you could divide into smaller groups and have each person share a fact about themselves that others probably don't know, and then answer a question, like "What three values do you hope your students have reinforced at school?" The groups can then report out on their list. Note how many of the values are alike and different. Good way to have some great discussions and further the goal of parents supporting one another because they know each other. Just an idea - doesn't require much prep!
Upcoming PTO elections? Meet those candidates night?
How about a school administrator having a Q & A on where your school district taxes go? Sounds boring - but I'll bet it would get lively with the Q's anyway!
Nutritionist talk about what's good and bad with school lunches?
Does anyone have any ideas for a meeting subject that can be done in a week? We were suppose to have a finance night and it fell through and I the meeting is next week.
