We don't charge for admission, but we have concessions, popcorn, pop, licorice ropes, nachoes, etc. We usually make anywhere from $100 to $200.
Our PPA hosted a Movie Night, but we rented out a local "dollar show" theater. We weren't looking to raise money, but to give back to our families. Renting the theatre cost the PPA $100. Admission was free to all the families, and they bought their own refreshments. I think if we provided our own refreshments, or had families bring from home, our rental would have been $200.
We had a pretty good turnout, and everyone said they really enjoyed it.

There were some posts last year on COPYRIGHT issues. If you charge admission, you may be in a legal infringement matter.
We were proposing a family fun movie night, but our gym is so old and the sound system stinks, our AV screen recently broke. We would have to bring in TV's and synchronize everything (too much work!!) and just to decide what movie to watch (oh bother!)
We cancelled the idea and are having a board game night instead.
doing a movie nite is something we are interested in doing at our school (k-4). I was wondering if anyone our there has done a movie night and now they went about doing this?! With copy rights and all that, I am not sure if we should only charge for food & drinks....   This email address is being protected from spambots.
