I do not know the article in question, but I have a couple of suggestions. Since you want this to be a community project, why not involve a non-profit community organization. I know our local Altrusa organization sponsors a week long community literacy program to coincide with Dr. Suess's birthday. This ivolves two small cities coming together for nightly events. Also if you are a PTA and are part of a council, maybe the council would want to do a community project like this. This idea might also be something to present at a local city council meeting. If they like the idea, they can possibly help endorse and promote it. Another date to look at coninciding this program with would be tv turnoff week in April. Check out their website www.tvturnoff.org
for ideas.
There was an article in a PTO Today within the last year that was about a school promoting a community family night. The whole town took the night off, all families stayed home. It talked about needing to make family time a priority and stressing that point. We would like to promote this idea. was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of that article or the school that hosted this. thanks.
