Discouraged

I agree. Why don't you look at your budget and see how much $$ you can offer each grade level. If you have the money, then tell the teachers - rather - ask the teachers to come to you meeting and tell you what they need. Have them make out a "wish list" and see what you can agree upon. Or perhaps you need to change your fundraiser to something that has a better result. We make over $25k on our catalog with 650 students.

Just a thought.

Why does every grade level have it's own fundraiser? Our 5th grade is doing one for the first time this year to support thier end of year trips etc. In the past the 5th grade student body just did small things like popcorn sales (2 a year), a construction paper valentine with a sucker attached for 25 cents and they deliver them to the valentines mostly just within the school. The kids love this. The fourth grade does a small cookbook they made 200 copies and sold them for $2.00 each. They also have a read a thon (not sure of the name) Where they get parents, relatives to support them x amount of money for pages they have read. If the PTO has a major fundraiser why can't the PTO donate x % off the top to the classroom teachers. Maybe not so many would have to be done throughout the whole school. Don't give up! Sit down and talk to your school's principal and brain storm ways the PTO can really help support the staff and families in your school.
Good Luck

This is my first year as President. I have been on the board for several years however. That being said, Teachers are complaining that the PTO does has fundraisers that interfer with their grade level fundraisers. They run their funraisers from Nov-March. They also are complaining because we have a raffle and a candle sale and they also do. NOW my Volunteer coordinator tells me that some people have been complaining to her that we are doing too much and maybe we should scale back. AND THE APATHY IS UNREAL. I had such high hope for this year NOW I am thinking about resigning. :( Any suggestion or just support would be appreciated
