Chick*mom ,
THank you for the suggestion, I had no idea that
we could do that. The next day I went in and talked to my principaland he apologized for not being there and then proceeded to tell me I should not be mad at the teacher's for not showing up because they are feeling upset because as of Jan we can no longer bring our children in the morning when we come to work.I was mad to say the least because I work at the school and my son is going to be affected by the same rule and that is no excuse not to go t oa meeting that's just a cop out.So we are working together to make the situation better. This is a principal that is really supportive about anything we want to do but it
hurts t be the only person to show up from the staff.I have to go on know and look at it as we had 8 great parents show up so I am happy about that.
Thanks for the support.
Patricia why don't you take the T out of PTO... We did now we are a parent club!! Attendence is still not what I would want, but our teachers do not have a vote, just the parents who bother to come! And I can not believe the principal was no at your meeting!! He/She needs to be there. Ours always comes and this year she is asking 2 teachers to be at each meeting. Good luck
Dear Auntie ,
I thank you for expressing those words out loud I
am a prez at my school and last night was our first meeting for the year. We are a school of 530
children and only 8 people besides myself were there.I was so upset i went there sat up by myself
only one other officer showed and we gained asecretary.because i wasn't waiting for the teacher who said she didn't have time to do.I went home and I cried and got myself so upset that I
hae had hives all say from stress.well I talked to the principal who by the way didn't show up either and he said at least we go 8 paretns who cared. I told him we need to take the T out of the
PTO because they only know us when they need money.I know that they are over worked but you know whar i also waork at that school and i only get paid for 3 hours a day and I stay for 6 hours and then I come home and have to take time fro my family and work some more.So please don't think it is only you.I just had a big sigh of relief to know I wasn't the only one to feel the same way.Keep up the ood work you are doing and you will be fine. I took over a PTO Last January and I and my fellow officers had high hopes to get the PTM (Parent Teacher Membership) really working. And up till last June we thought we had. But after the comments from our own Superintendant that he had a teachers meeting with the teachers and they didnt think they needed to get involved because they didnt have time and why should they its not their problem. Plus this past week we had an Ice Cream Social and My parent volunteers were chewed out for starting getting the ice cream ready to serve so they could have a jump start on the parents coming through and having parents sign up for the door prizes we were giving out but when asked to sign up for the PTM at no membership fee. And being told and I quote ( Ya Right) I have had enough. The PTM consists of 4 people and 3 are officers who have done nothing but bent over backwards for these people who are quick to ask for handouts but not willing to participate in the fundraising to get the money. And all we have gotten was snide remarks and anonymous notes that say we need to do better. I have gotten to the point where i am ready to say fine you step up to the plate to the Principal and the Super and all the teachers and the non helping parents and see what they say. Am I wrong?
