It sounds like we do a similar thing at our school also. We send out a list of areas where volunteers are needed throughout the school year. we ask the parents to check the ones they would to particpate in and and give us there telephone numbers. On the sheet is the name, number and email address of the Volunteer Coordinator. We try to encourage parents to touch base throughout the year with vol. coordinator, principal, or a teacher to remind them that they are available to help out if needed.
Here's an introduction paragraph that I ran across and wanted to share with all of you that are trying to attract more volunteers within your school.
Maybe someone else will read this and be inspired.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
It takes a lot of parent involvement for the PTA to function well. Don’t you like to know what is going on at your child’s school? The best way to keep yourself informed of the happenings is to be one of the people that are making things happen!
We are all busy living our everyday daily lives, but someone has to be here for the kids. We have many different types of needs and many of them only require a few hours of your time. Look over the list below and see if you can be involved in any way. We would love to have your help!
It’s a great way to meet your child’s friends and their parents. An Executive Board Member has already been assigned to each activity, we are only asking that you assist them. Circle any of the items below that you would consider helping with, and return as soon as possible. When your help is needed you will be contacted to confirm that you will be available.
* list all your volunterr needs
* add name of volunteer chairmen, their phone number and, email address.
