Hi ya'll
Several of you that requested a copy of the Welcome letter that I had used on my Welcome Packet, have emailed me back wanted to know about the YO program.
The YO program was implemented at our elementary school - which consisted of about 850 student (K-5). In order to save paper, we identified which students in the classroom were the Youngest or Only student of a family within our school. Then with this information we were able to only provide enough copies of a particular form to be sent home with the students of the YO program. This save so much paper, and made the parents lives easier too. Instead of getting 2,3,or 4 copies of the same flyer, newsletter or school district calender, they only received one from this particular school campus. Of course if they still had a student at the high school or the middle school that had nothing to do the YO program - the YO program only was for the elementary campus.
We hung the YO count next to the copy machine - with the number of YO students in each classroom noted. this of course changed a bit as student moved into the school - but for the most part - everyone know how many students in a particular classroom - were the Youngest or Only student of a family in our school.
Hope this helps.
