Hi Outnumbered (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), I just sent you the Volunteer Sign Up and the Homeroom Parent Sign up fors of years ago. Hope they offer ideas that you can use.

IMovePeople - I agree about the signatures. It's something they have always done and our bylaws require it. I am not sure what to do about that since we are running on bylaws when we were associated with another school as one PTO and the principals won't let us update the bylaws unless another parent challenges them.
I'd still like to have the room though.....
Hello. We just use the teachers' room for stuff like that. Butx I have created a Parent Resource Center in the library. It consists of Parenting videos, brochures, flyers, etc. You can get free resource material from the Dept of Ed. also.
dcd - I would love the forms too. Sounds like you've done a great job on them! Thank you! Here's my email - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Excellent ideas! Unfortunetly we don't have the man power to run it effectively. There are just two of us doing it. We do help the teachers with their copying, laminating, binding etc. But we are unable to assist the parents like we wanted to. That was the whole idea behind this, and we are unable to do it. I hope that in the next few months we will be able to devote more time to the parent part of the room, but until then we will use it to help the teachers.

Maybe instead of stating you are "seperate" you could state you are Assisting the PTO by creating your Teacher's Helpers Group. The THG is being coordinated by __________ and if you have any questions or would like to participate, please contact __________ at __________. I have learned that sometimes it is better to not tell everyone everthing, just let them know your mission. =)
