Sounds like your enthuised! And that's great that's exactly what PTO's need ethusiasiam and hard working individuals. Doesn't know where to spend the money. How about buying the kids books
to read at home that they can keep for their own.
Computer learning software. If computers are available. Learning materials for the classrooms. Bringing entertainers to the school to. Field Trips I am sure there's lots of things the kids haven't seen theatrical plays. How about extra die-cuts for the staff. School T-shirts for each student and staff member. I would go more for learning equipment. Recreational Equipment if any is needed. Marquee?
These are just ideas running thru my head trying to put myself in at that school. If I was a child I would probably want more learning things.
Aclerated Reader Programs. To help improve reading.
My son is in second grade and my daughter in kindergarten. Our PTO consists of the PTO president. Our school has $4000 in grant money that is left up to the PTO to use and our President doesn't know what to do. I have attended every meeting with the principal, two teachers (at most), the secretary (who was the student council leader), the PTO president and MAYBE two other parents. A lot of the families are low income, and the kids neglected. The PTO president's youngest is now a 6th grader and I want her job! I am ambitious and want parental involvement. We have replaced the principal (which may help) and I have read through the board, but our PTO is pretty much non-existent. Can someone give me ideas. I am starting from scratch. We are having a meet and greet that I plan to hand flyers out asking for members, times they would be available for meetings, and any ideas for the grant. Our school is small. One teacher for each grade with the normal size classroom being 12-15. We have potential, but how do I get others as pumped up as I am about it? Thanks!!!
