We have a Fall Festival and will be having our first one in about 4 years this fall. We voted on it in the last school year and there were still many parents who voted against it. Some of the problems were that we were going to allow kids to wear costumes (many parents objected) and also that there is too much going on during that time of the year. It did pass with a proposed budget of $500.00. We bought some great things from closeouts and since we have a huge carnival with real midway games in Feb. this festival will have some simple "homemade" types of games. We have a large pumpkin cutout with a bean bag toss, and some other fun ideas like craft stations, tattoos, candy hoop toss, etc.... We will only be charging a $1.00 admission price for students and everything is included - even a cup of cider and a cookie! We are combining this night with a silent auction on our stage to fund our Playground Savings Account. This will be our only "money maker" on the night and should be a lot of fun!! JHB, Thanks for your input. I guess I should have said a little more in my question earlier. We have currently had Halloween Carnivals, one time it was changed to a Fall Festival. But everything happened the same. They just changed the name to benifit those who do not celebrate Halloween. Either way is fine with me. I just wanted to know what other PTOer's preferred. Share some activities also. I am trying to make this a community event instead of just a school event. Thanks a million!!

Stephanie,

I may have misunderstood your request. Were you asking if we used the title "Halloween" vs "Fall" or did you want to know what type of activities we had at a Fall event. Regardless, looks like you are getting some responses!

We have a Fall Festival. The children do not dress up. (there is one day they can dress in costume for school) It is our biggest fund-raiser. Last year it was change from a Saturday to a Tuesday night and we did more in 2 1/2 hours than they had done in 4. When I was younger it was a Hollween Carnival, but of course time changes many things. We have one teacher that won't allow anything "halloween" in her class room.
