You could always start a PARENT CLUB! It's like a PTA but parents are the members. We do the basic same things. You have good ideas, don't let a few ruin what you are trying to do for the school.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what COPE stands for? I'm figuring C=Concerned and the E=Education.

I have to return to the fact this was a year ago. These people came and recieved advise like get your friends together and do what is best. Not what was best for the children. Our PTO will not ever return because "COPE" is the new group.
I am not mad at this forum nor am I upset with the ego moms. I thought that you as moms needed to here an update. I am sadden and thought that a review of what is put out might not come back the way you may think. Please for everyone that is in position of authority do tread lightly. Good Luck to all you moms who put heart in the schools.

I've read and reread your post. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you the way you believed it should. It is very apparent that you are mad at them, and for what seems to be good reason if what you say is true. My question to you is this: Why are you mad at us?

quote:
So in this forum they came for advise-They were rude ubnoxious, just like 2 year olds.

What? Because they came to us and we answered? I don't remember answering any post where the poster was rude, obnoxious or acting like 2 year olds. May I suggest that they presented their case well? That we responded in good faith? That there are at least 3 sides to every story: yours, theirs and the truth? We responded the same for them that we would respond for you.

quote:
I have removed myself and a lot of others have also it is shotty at best and it is sad to think you all here gave your best for a situation you knew nothing about. Thank you for your time. It is a very sad situation.

When you quit blaming them and us, dust yourself off and begin fresh. If you did all that you say you did, you can do it again.

And it is, indeed, a very sad situation.

It sure does sound like the school lost a good thing. Can you start up something new? Perhaps PTA or PVTO? Are these more moms like you who want to get involved? Or maybe you should wait a year and let things cool down.

Sounds like you had a great PTO...too bad those individuals could not think past their own pride or needs. We are supposed to be in it for the Children. (Besides, what kind of role models were those women?) Sometimes we lose sight of that, but most of us come back to reality.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Once a very active PTO was created by <bulldog>
It has been at least a year since I came here to ask for help. I wish that when things are posted that all the facts were included. I was a PTO president for two years. When I recieved it-There was no money and outstanding bills to be paid. No parent involvement and the teachers were laughing at it at every turn. For teacher appreciation week they use to recieve 6 cookies on a plate.
I took the PTO and made money in one year($4500) in the bank after all bills were paid. The teachers recieved(prek-12th) a brunch that knocked their socks off. All the aides and janitors recieved lunch on us. We also gave presents($10) to each and every member of the staff(55). The parents began to get back to caring and sharing with the school and the kids again. Then the old PTO presidents got their noses out of joint because they felt we made them look bad. Folks this was my job and I took it seriously. I did not intentionally go to make them look bad-They did it by themselves. So in this forum they came for advise-They were rude ubnoxious, just like 2 year olds. When the last meeting came for elections the voted to shut it down which they did. They now call themselves Cope sounds like a drug thing. They dont have any money and now the parents and teachers are all laughing again. For teacher appreciation a little something was in their boxes two weeks late. They lost over $600 because of a fund raiser in which no indian was in charge. The school is happy because they absorb any amout of money that the cope people do not remember or the old pto deposited in their account. This is a no win situation. I have removed myself and a lot of others have also it is shotty at best and it is sad to think you all here gave your best for a situation you knew nothing about. Thank you for your time. It is a very sad situation.
