Has anyone had any dealing with PTO's organized to cover more than 1 school. I was approached to research the possibilities of creating an association wide PTO to cover a multi state private school association. Has this ever been done and what has resulted? This school association has 45,000 students and as a collective voice it would be a very powerful organization. Maybe to powerful. That is what scares me, the politics of it. Many of the schools in the association have school based PTO's in place. This would be an additional PTO group that would be a no-fee group that wants parents as members and provide assistance association wide. The idea was, it would increase buying power and allow us to negotiate better prices on supplies and equipment.
The central offices of the association, which oversees teacher certification, academic standards and sporting events, was approached, but stated they were not getting involved in operations of individual schools.
If anyone has had any dealing with anything of this sort please reply. I need some input on this.
