Lliband,
As I said in my email to you, thank you for all
of your help. I'll be sure to use the forms you
sent me, they can only help!!
If anyone else out there has any forms or sample
letters, I would love to see them.
Thanks again lliband,
Julie

julie,
this seems to be the major issue with most of us. i'm recently elected president, a kindergarten mom with no previous experience as are two other officers. we are happy to get 6 people at our meetings including the principal and our four officers. i took over in january after having already headed the two fall fundraisers. after the new officers took over the old ones have not made an effort to continue coming to the meetings or being involved even. we also have sent out a multitude of letters and sign-ups. however our best response has been asking personally for them to help - can you work the children's fair at this time. most of the parents are glad to help but do not want to organize or be in charge of something. secondly we went to the kindergarten round-up with a packet about us, our fundraising events, what we did this past year, etc. so far we have had about 10 people return their sign up forms from this. we also have just sent out a survey and they are to be returned this friday. so we will see on that. i will send you copies of our packet and survey. good luck!

I am our pto's president and treasurer. Have been
for 5 years now. Our k-12 school has about 500
students. In over the 10 year period that I have
been involved with our pto we have had 5 families
that have helped in any way. We are having a great
year if we can earn 400.00. I want to send out a note to our elementary parents asking for people to attend meetings and help with projects. We have gone over everything in every direction and can come up with only one reason that we don't get at least some help: lack of parental involvement. We only have two fund raisers a year. One being a Santa shop, which we will not have again, we had the lowest prices and only made 45.00 and the other fundraiser is Our Kids Art, which we had about 6 kids participate in and we made about 60.00. So we know we aren't fundraising people to death as many other groups are. We provide many services to elementary and a scholarship to high school students. Most of what we do comes out of my pocket and out of my secretaries pocket. There are currently myself, my secretary and another mother who helps every now and then. When I mention lack of envolvement to people they seem to be amazed. We have sent out flyers and many things to notify people of meetings and of our need for help. We always get the promises but never the follow up. If I can't get any help by the end of the year, I will be turning in my hat, and no one else wants this job. My kids are grown and graduating and I am just doing this until I can pass it on to someone else now. I would be happy with one or two more people to help us. What I need is someone to send me a sample of a letter or some ideas of what to say to get people motivated. Thanks for any help you can offer me.
Julie
