We give out left over candy from concessions for turning in the survey. Great response. For our survey I made a list of the things we did and had them rate on a scale of 1-5. Questioned if we had ??? program would you be interested? Also had comment area and what would you like to see. Its a great way to get parents a little involved.
Just a note - We use Key Club for babysitting. They need volunteer hours for credit and we give a donation to them at the end of the year. The kids love having the high schoolers and they are great role models.
Any time we send home a survey we note that we will enter all the returned surveys into a drawing for a small gift or gift certificate. The item is usually only around $25, but our responses have quadrupled. And we only do 1 or 2 a year so it isn't too costly.
We have sent surveys in the past but were never really successful. Usually the only people that return them are the 15 people who attend PTO meetings. I love the idea of the ice cream party... kids pressure is a great way to get parents to involve themselves. we are just about ready to send our survey out so i thought i would let you catch a glimpse. after this assault, we are sending out early sign up packets for next year. they include a all the fundraising things to continue over the summer as well as information pages about our group. i'll let you know the outcome once we collect the results.
