We are doing a similar event. We have invited a local radio personality (his son attends our school) to be a guest reader. We also have a scout troup and a student group who will be "acting out" a couple of Seuss stories. A parent has volunteered to bake birthday cake. We are limiting the event to 6:30-8PM so it won't be a late night for the littler ones (who are encouraged to come in their PJs)
We are planning a read-in night with the celebration of Dr. Seuss'
Birthday to go along with the Read Across America program. We
invite families to come to school and read with their children, we
serve cake and have drawings for free books. Last year was the
first time we did this and it was a great success. A family night
with no expense. I would welcome any other ideas to make this an
even better event.
