Hey--I posted this before but didn't get much response. Anyone out there every tried to buy a day-car slot for parents who would volunteer during the day but have a younger child not in school? We are considering this for next year. I put it in my volunteer questioner (whether anyone would need this). Any thoughts?
We don't have a volunteer orientation, although it's always a great idea. (Just haven't had anyone to follow through.) We do have a handout that stresses some points like confidentiality.

Mark's mom - We do an orientation for new parents and homeroom parents, but we send home a confidentiality aggreement to all parents who may volunteer. Also, would you mind sharing your surveys or ideas for them? I'm am getting ready to do exactly the same thing with everything that you talked about and I'm starting from scratch. Thanks jhb--I'm going through a similar process. I just finished a parent/teacher survey for input re: pta in general. Also--@ send survey to teachers to see what kind of volunteers they are looking for next year. Also--survey to parents letting them know what volunteer opportunities there will be. Do you do an orientation night for volunteers. If so--do you mind sharing what topics are discussed i.e. confidentiality etc. thanks!
