Defintely not. The newsletter is meant as a summary of past and upcoming events, and will often have much of the same information as the event specific flyers, but that shouldn't prevent you from also sending event specific flyers.
I look at it this way. Getting the word out is difficult enough. If the parents receive the same info more than once then great, at least they're getting it. How often does one flyer get lost or stuck at the bottom of the backpack? By having numerous communication paths it increases the chance of the parents receiving the info. We presently use the following, all at the same time:
1. Monthly newsletters - full colored
2. Event specific flyers - full colored
3. Morning announcements which are podcasted for all parents to hear
4. Posted flyer and newsletters at the pick-up and entrance areas.
5. E-mails for all parents who signed-up to receive PTO related news.
And we are in the process of purchasing an info board for the school and will utilize this as well.
Those of you doing Monthly Newsletters, do those newsletters take the place of sending out promo flyers to promote your PTA events OR do you send out promo flyers and monthly newsletters?
Recently I read a post regarding a great site that has clip art you can
customize. Basically you click on the clip art and then type in your text.
It is very cool & I've used it alot in the past. However, my computer crashed and I had to basically rebuild it & now I no longer have that website address.
I've been searching the web AND this message board and can't seem to locate it. Can anyone out there help me?
