All- I was only replying with what the IRS tells you when you inquire about the 501c3. Like I said, hopefully, it would not take that long. I am glad to hear that at least something in our government works quickly! LOL
You usually will have back an acknowledgement within a month letting you know they've received your packet and it is working...then the fun begins getting all the wording correct .

It took us 9 months from sending it in, to final approval. We had to send in more info at one point. Just tell your group that it is in progress & all the benefits the group will be getting when it's done.
When we did ours in 2002 with all of the great help on this forum we had ours in seven weeks, there were no phone calls or anything so must be jhb taught me to do right the first time!

I've seen various estimates posted on websites 2-12 months; 3-6 months.
We've discussed this before and while zeekaboo may have had some extraordinary experience, many of us fell more in the 8-12 WEEK range once everything was submittedcompletely and correctly.
Ours was awhile back (2000) and took less than two months, as I recall. However, I've worked with several other folks since then and heard similar timeframes.
