Volunteer Activity Database

The award itself costs $1, but if you order the optional lapel pin, it costs $2 for each award.

Because you aren't giving this award to everyone, it doesn't end up costing that much money. I think we spent about $125 total on awards this past year.

It's a little more time added to your duties--with the minimum amount of extra time to put in the stuff on each person, I think it added 10 hours to my work last year...but it was worth it.

Raf--Thanks for the info--this looks great! Do you have any idea how much the awards cost? I suspect anything above a certificate may blow my budget, but it's worth considering for some of the heavy duty volunteers.

Guys--here's an extension to recording volunteer service that I found to be a most excellent way to track service...

www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/

It's the President's Volunteer Service Awards site...is an initiative of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation in conjunction with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the USA Freedom Corps and is administered by the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network.

OK...I had to copy the last of that because the names are so gosh darned long. But here's the important thing...presidential service awards are an incredible resource for your parent volunteers to put on their resumes. It's also a great way to reward them at your year's end. It doesn't cost anything to use their site, and volunteers can actually keep track of their own service record.

It can also be used for your students, who then become eligible for college scholarships becuase of their serivce.
