Hi, I am a volunteer coordinator for an elementary school, and for the two years previous served as Room Representative coordinator/advisor. What we do(we have over 700 students. We have the room reps for each grade level meet in the cafe, kinder at one table, 1st at another, etc.. They come up with a plan together, and every class in Kindergarten does the same game, the same snack, the same craft. We stress equality in all grade levels. The only difference is at the end of year celebration party, the 5th grade gets a much larger party(it is their last year at the school), but every party, holiday, valentines, and end of year the grade levels do the same thing. I do not mean that 4th grade does what 1st grade does. I mean that 1st grade classrooms all do the same thing, and 2nd grade classrooms all do the same thing in their classrooms, we do not join all the classes at the same time, in one location as the chaos could not be managed. Hope this helps

Some classes have Moms that go all out and the party is great and then we have some classes that barely get anything. We would like to do something fun for the kids & make it so all of the kids get the same thing. We also would like to get away from all of the candy and sweets. Anyone tried anything fun and or different??? Thanks!
We have a lot smaller school. only about 120 kids grade 1-6. We have had an olympic party theme, Around the World party theme, surviver party, pot of gold party, our district is very strict about the types of parties we have. We had to be creative. We divide our kids into 6 groups then have 6 "stations". one is where they get their food, one might be a tug-of-war, another might be relay races, one might be limbo, etc. we then rotate the groups every ten minutes. these work out really well for us and the kids love it! maybe you can incorperate some of these ideas somehow with 500 kids.
good luck!!!
