We are having a "First Responders Day" at our elementary school. i have scheduled a policeman, a firefighter and an ems worker. We are going to begin with the boy and girl scouts doing a flage ceromony, principal will talk about how we are honoring these heroes, each person will speak for about 5-10 minutes and we will end with a patriotic song. i like the idea of having the students dress in red white and blue..
cr8151: My children's elementary school celebrated by wearing red, white and blue and respecting a "moment of silence" last year. The principal is a VERY patriotic lady who has a son on special service over in Iraq right now...
I'll let you know.
We are trying to think of ways to celebrate Patriot Day on 9/11. We had a huge assembly last year with all the students, invited congressemen, local firefighters, Boyscouts, etc. We had two Pin Oak trees donated to symbolize the Twin Towers, and a plaque engraved with "We will never forget...9/11/01. THe children sang patriotic songs, and several children read poems they had written. This year we are looking for simpler ideas beyond the wear Red-White & Blue. Any ideas out there?
